The western part of the Florence's City Centre puts the old architecture of the Ponte Vecchio next to newest architecture of the Central Train Station. This side of Florence also hosts the Santa Maria Novella Fresco, Palazzo Strozzi or Piazza della Repubblica, part of the large reconstruction project of Florence, dating back to the times and Florence was a Capital. The area is famous for being a large commercial centre, especially for the leather goods and fashion.
